I've been coming here all my life and I've always loved the nice warm feel of it. Every time I come here, I crave for the Crispy Roast Pork Belly which keeps me running for the rest of the day. I have tried many desserts, but the Sticky Toffe Pudding is undefeated: served with a dollop of vanilla and covered in a sweet, gooey sauce. Delicious.
My brother Leopard and me first went to Bistro Pierre together when we were in my mum's tummy. I am not sure what she ate then, but now when I go there I usually order Fish Fingers and Chips because I love the ketchup! And for dessert, the ice lolly is the best. Scrumptious.
The first time I went to Bistro Pierre, I was in my mummy's tummy. I still remember! I loved it then and I still love it now. My favourite food is Boeuf Bourguignon because it is really tasty. And my favourite desert is the Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate topping. Appetising.
Bistro Pierre feels a little bit like our dining room as we go there so often. My then boyfriend and I first went, 20 years ago, when it was still called PeeVee, just as we had moved to Leicester. I remember sitting in almost every table with friends and family. The place is full of memories, from celebrating being asked in marriage to Mother’s Day to being promoted at work.
The atmosphere is very French and the deco is nice, specially since it was renovated a few years ago. The toilets are clean and have nice soap and hand cream! The staff is friendly, warm and accommodating, though that sometime depends on the draw of the day. The service is efficient and on time: just right. The food is really good value for money and the classic dishes do bring me back to Paris, specially the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Creme Brûlée. Heavenly.
We all cheered in our family - as we did on that unbelievable day in 2016 when Leicester City were crowned Premier League Champions - at the news that Bistro Pierre was to remain open. That was during the dark days of the pandemic. And like City’s resurgence to win the FA Cup, it’s so pleasing to see Bistro Pierre have a triumphant return to form.
Bistro Pierre is at its best when it sticks to its roots as a French bistro. Over the years there’s been an influx of dishes that don’t even have a tenuous link to France’s Imperial past. So, I was pleased to see in our last visit that the majority of the current menu remains true to its original values. There's, surely, enough French culinary history so that every branch of Bistro Pierre has an exclusive menu for each region of the country.
I’m going to sound like a bee here, but over the years my standout favourites are the Honey Glazed Pork Medallions and the Burgundy Honey pudding. I just need to find a honey themed starter to make it a clean sweep. Sweet.
